What do the cards say?

In Tarotville™, the cards speak the language of dance, circus, and theater. Like all Tarot readings, the audience chooses each card and determines how the story unfolds. Each performance receives an unique hand. No one knows what will be revealed.

The Production

Tarotville™ is a spectacle of light, music, and movement. It features 5 dancers, a vocalist/actor, accompanying musician, and stage manager. Over the course of 60 min, the audience picks 8 cards at random from a deck of 18. The cards take you on a ride through humor, audience interaction, athletic movement, and moments when you want to stand up and dance.

About

Created by nonprofit SB Dance, Tarotville is part of a mobile concert program called Curbside Theater.

The show is distinguished by several traits: a movement idiom that borrows from pole dance and circus; random sequencing; audience interaction; and, like all Curbside pieces, the ability to be located in unique spaces. Tarotville premiered in 2023. 9 more sections– or “cards”– were created for the 2024 season.
